The crater is a short drive from Flagstaff, AZ. It is 4,100 feet across and 550 feet deep. It was created about 50,000 years ago when a 150 ton meteor composed of iron and nickel hit the earth's surface. JoAnn and I find the crater fascinating and worth the trip from Flagstaff to visit. We've visited the crater a couple of times.
